Blake Burnett
My friend Blake Burnett died last year around Christmas. We spent three years in school together at the American School of Paris. Blake was like a brother to me and others. Paris to an American middle school kid was an unbelievable experience. Blake and I would often reminisce and hope our lives could someday be that exciting again. We always talked about putting our adventures into words, but for now I will leave it written in the only book which really matters; the book of life cannot be unwritten.
I never lost touch with him, we last spoke just a few months before I heard the shocking news. The main reason I maintain this site is because Blake always reminded me to never lose touch with the strings of life I have crossed on my way.
Now that a year has passed, I can talk about him without cracking my non-sensitive facade. The fact remains though that those we love truly stay with us forever.

Music
I love a lot of music of every variety. From eminem to Mongolian throat singing, I feel it all has value. A good judge though, may be who have a I actually paid money to see.. here is the list in the vague order of appearance in my small narrative...
311 - HFS Fall 1999 - only band I was pumped for that day. HFS in general was about partying, not music.
Davis Street Band - Not ashamed to say that I miss you guys.
Bob Dylan - Merriweather, excellent
Gin Blossoms with The Spin Doctors - Meat and I acting silly
Kelly Bell Band - many times over
Hootie and the Blowfish- no shame, and it was free, I just wanted to put it on anyways.
The Cheaters - Dave Wolf is a life messenger
Tom Petty - @ Nissan with my fiancee
Matisyahu - best show ever @ Ramshead
Weezer @ Virgin FreeFest - I did the Karma package and paid for some free tickets! Also Blink was there, but I never would have paid to just see Blink.
I also saw Good Charlotte open for the Davis Street Band in Frederick, and that was good, but I and no one else knew what they would turn into, obviously. otherwise why would they be in Frederick?
I ALSO think I once picked someone up from an Ani Difranco concert. That was close, and I did pay to park I think.
I would pay almost anything to see...
- Dispatch - The Davis Street Band - The Killers - maybe REM it depends on the time of year really - Lots of other bands who I doubt will get back together or ever tour again or are beyond our reach, which is just like listing great bands which I do not feel like doing. Take a class or something.

Religion
I think that every creature is a type of biological conduit for a wavelength of consciousness. We are being possessed by the intellect of the universe. Our bodies are just something to transport our brains, and our brains spend the day gathering information, etc. At night, during stages of sleep, we shut our body down, keeping just enough consciousness to keep the vital processes moving, while the brain compiles and transmits information to the mother ship, our collective conscious. At this time the brain may have access to information it was not exposed to, in our material reality.
This may also explain the memory disconnect between the sleeping state, infancy, and our waking adulthood. We must have built up a wall which protects our grasp of reality in this "life" experience.
Our true being does not end when our body dies any more than a radio signal dies when you destroy a single radio set tuned to that station.
It may also explain evolution, our hidden self always wishing for a more effective, "better" tool to drink in the manifestations of the universe.
Confusing, but we are all just parts of a greater whole, tentacles of a consciousness trying to feel, see, smell, and taste out the secrets of existence. When I say we, I mean all creatures. If smell is more important than stellar observation to our "mission, it is logical that dogs are far more valuable than people.

Hello Friends,
Welcome to my new site. I am in graduate school now so a full web domain is too much to maintain. This little blog should be enough for anyone who needs to reconnect with me, or for anyone curious to find out a little about what makes Louie a little bit like everybody else.
